Our Story

One of the many gifts of the weekend, having Ashley well enough to go to dinner for Jeremy's birthday, over a year ago.

Hello there! We are the Traficant family- Jim, Gwen, Ashley, and Jeremy. This blog is to update you on our status as we progress towards Ashley’s liver transplant.  We will all be taking turns keeping you updated.

Our family has dealt with chronic illness for over twenty-two years. Jim (dad) was diagnosed with a rare liver disease, Primary Schlerosing Cholangitis (PSC), shortly before Ashley was born.  He has since had two liver transplants.  Ashley was diagnosed with the same disease shortly after Jim’s second transplant.  That was a little over seven years ago and Ashley is still fighting to regain her health. There have been many disappointments and blessings along the way but our relationship with God as a result of our faith in Jesus Christ has carried us through the years of tears, laughter, sickness, healing, and the toll that comes with the emotional roller coaster of chronic illness. Because of Christ, we have found hope.

Ashley is currently listed for a liver transplant at Duke University. As we wait, Gwen and Jeremy are going through the process of being considered to be living donors at the University of Minnesota.  We hope that this blog can be an encouragement to you and also provide ways in which you can come alongside our family and join us in prayer as we walk through this difficult journey, because it is a path best walked with friends.

Thanks for walking with us and being part of the joy in the journey.
